SUMMARY:Book Club - Count the Ways by Joyce Maynard
DESCRIPTION:Book Club – Count the Ways by Joyce Maynard\nLed by Marcy Manas and Liz Morley\n16:00 Tuesday 22 December\nOur Book Talk meets once a month. Books are available to borrow from the Gura Family Memorial Library. \nOur December choice is Count the Ways by Joyce Maynard. \nNew York Times bestselling author Joyce Maynard explores the complexities of family life\, from the hopeful beginnings of young marriage to parenthood\, divorce and the lasting consequences of tragedy. Eleanor and Cam meet at a crafts fair in Vermont in the early 1970s. She is an artist and writer; he makes wooden bowls. Within four years\, they have three children and a seemingly idyllic life on a New Hampshire farm. For Eleanor\, family traditions\, cosy evenings and watching her children grow are everything she has ever wanted. \nThen a terrible accident\, caused by Cam’s negligence\, shatters their world. Unable to forgive him\, Eleanor becomes consumed by bitterness\, while Cam finds comfort in a new relationship. As the years pass\, the fractured family faces unexpected challenges\, painful choices and revelations. One child undergoes a gender transition\, while another breaks completely with her mother. \nSpanning decades\, Maynard’s poignant novel follows the five family members as their lives intertwine\, separate and occasionally reconnect. With compassion and insight\, she examines the enduring effects of the past and the difficult journey towards understanding and forgiveness. This is a moving story of home\, parenthood\, love\, loss and learning when to hold on—and when to let go. \nMembers NIS 25 \nNon-members NIS 35 (cash only at the door) \nPurchase tickets below\, call the box office 09-8330950 (Sunday-Thursday 9:00-12:30) or pay at the door. \nPrepaid tickets available until noon on the day of this event. \nNearby Parking: (one block north of Netanya AACI\, approach from the north on Shmuel Hanatziv to turn right into the driveway just before the traffic circle) \nUsing Waze: https://waze.com/ul/hsv8zcjvhf \nUsing Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/teDPagS7GRUi5VzY8
